President's Welcome
Mathematics education is at a crossroads — and together, we can lead it forward. Each season, our president shares bold ideas, challenges the status quo, and invites you to join CMC in building classrooms where every student experiences joy, justice, and high expectations in math.

Section Conferences
The California Mathematics Council (CMC) is dedicated to advancing high-quality, equitable mathematics education for all students. Through professional learning, advocacy, and collaboration, we support educators in delivering rigorous and relevant instruction that empowers every learner.
Spotlight
CMC strongly opposes Senate Bill 1067, which would impose universal mathematics screener for students in Grades K–2. CMC supports early mathematics development and the importance of identifying and addressing the needs of our highest need students. However, the approach of SB 1067 is not research-based and would distract from the critical investments required for California to fully implement the 2023 Ca Mathematics Framework and ensure that teachers are equipped to support all students within tier 1 instruction. CMC looks forward to continued conversations with all partners and legislative offices to discuss the critical investments needed to improve access to quality early learning in mathematics for all students.

Our Policy & Advocacy Chairperson, Kathlan Latimer, provided testimony in opposition to SB 1067 at the State Capitol, alongside past State President Ma Bernadette Salgarino and Dr. Scott MacDowell, representing ASCA’s Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability Council.

Advocating at the Capitol, CMC leaders met with legislative offices to strengthen partnerships, speak out against SB 1067, and represent the voices of our members.
